In Focus Martin Sheen continues to bring many of our greatest advancements to public television audiences both on the TV program and online at www.infocusptv.com. In a series of upcoming reports, the team will be looking at many of the medical innovations that are changing our world.

In labs and at research university settings around the country, scientists are working to create new tools to fight some of our most dreaded diseases. Cancer, AIDS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s are all getting a close look at the molecular level from researchers working to attack disease at its very foundation.

For other researchers, their work is developing the tools of the trade for surgeons. New technologies for brain surgery and back surgery are giving patients more options. These procedures are decreasing recovery times and giving people a better prognosis.

In Focus with Martin Sheen is also looking at how changing perceptions among doctors is bringing new treatments into the mainstream. Yoga, meditation, and other alternative remedies and treatments are now becoming part of traditional Western medicine. While these remedies are not replacing the science of modern medication and surgical care, in some cases these treatments are keeping people strong through difficult treatments or helping people with flexibility issues like arthritis.

In these upcoming reports, In Focus Martin Sheen PBS will be bringing these innovations to audiences. The team at (561) 826-0675 is working to bring more reports on advancement and innovation in healthcare in upcoming editions.

See a report on clean building from In Focus Martin Sheen

On In Focus Martin Sheen one of the stories the producers are following is the advances in alternative energy. Viewers watching the show on public television have been contacting the producers at (561) 826-0675 and talking to the team at the TV show about how high energy costs are a big concern for their families.

New energy sources are showing progress in bringing energy costs down through the use of clean and renewable energy sources. The home of the future will take advantage of these new cheaper energy sources and use them more efficiently though the use of smart power grid technology. These homes will have software to control power use during peak hours to keep energy costs down.

This new energy will come from a couple of sources that are seeing growth in popularity. In Focus PBs is watching how windmills are sprouting up in places like the Midwest where the wide open plains are an optimum location for wind fields. This new technology is already showing progress in bringing home energy costs down.

Solar power is also making news. More homes now have solar panels installed on the roof and it is saving on energy costs for homeowners. In some places where the panels are producing a lot of electricity, homeowners are selling excess energy back to the power companies, who are using it to decrease the electrical load from fossil fuels in the community.

Each of these technologies could be the future of energy production. By cutting reliance on fossil fuels, these energy sources are less of a danger to the environment. The fact that there is an endless supply of wind and sunlight makes these two sources much cheaper as well. Like most any new technology, they are being met with some apprehension because they are as efficient as they will become, but engineers tell our producers the technology is improving all the time.

The producers of the TV program In Focus with Martin Sheen can also be reached via the website at www.infocusptv.com. In the coming weeks, the team is expected to make more announcements about reports on ways to keep the environment healthy and energy costs low.

See more healthcare reporting from In Focus Martin Sheen

Over the last several months, In Focus Martin Sheen has been talking to viewers about the issues that are important to them. The producers have been responding by announcing new reports for audiences of the TV program and online at www.infocusptv.com.

Healthcare is an issue that is of great interest to viewers, and In Focus PBS is looking at several topics inside the industry to see how they are changing healthcare for all Americans. The Affordable Care Act is slowly being implemented, and this new legislation will have big implications for both consumers and healthcare providers.

From the research perspective, new treatments are making strides against disease and illness. By learning about diseases at the microscopic and even the molecular level, new treatments are becoming possible. Doctors are also augmenting these new treatments with alternative remedies like nutritional therapy, yoga, and even medication.

Another change that has not gotten much attention is electronic medical records. EMR is changing medical care by giving people more portability with their medical records. By incorporating the technology of the internet people now can give their doctors access to medical information from anywhere. The technology also saves time and money inside the medical industry because people now have more time to deal with patient issues because the records are so easy to maintain.

The producers of the TV show at (561) 826-0675 are working to develop more stories covering the healthcare field. In Focus with Martin Sheen will have many new announcements about healthcare reporting over the next few weeks. By following the broadcast on Twitter people can find out about these new announcements as they happen.

See In Focus with Martin Sheen on the Wounded Warriors

For the large number of Baby Boomers entering their retirement years, disposable income and a robust interest in the world around them are providing new options for people to enjoy retirement.

In Focus Martin Sheen is talking to new retirees and one of the exciting trends that is showing itself is the growing popularity in cultural and culinary tourism.

More and more new retirees are abandoning the notion of retiring to a resort and instead choosing to expand their horizons though travel that enriches the mind.

Culinary travel is a growing area of the travel industry that allows people to understand a region through food. By exploring areas with a unique culinary identity like New Orleans, Paris or even Shanghai people are developing an understanding of new cultures.

Even resorts are capitalizing on the trend. Many hotels now offer entire packages built around culinary tourism. Some are even offering restaurant tours and seminars with well known culinary masters.

Baby Boomers are taking advantage of these packages to learn about the world around them and make life a continuing learning experience.

For each retiree, their plans will be different; however travel seems to be an overriding theme. In Focus PBS also found that some retirees are taking extended cruises to see the world. Other retirees are purchasing sophisticated motor homes with all of the amenities of home. This allows them to explore any location that can be accessed by a road. It also allows them to travel without the burden of plans and hotel reservations.

In Focus with Martin Sheen at (561) 826-0675and www.infocusptv.com is preparing more reports on how retirees are spending their time for public television audiences. The TV show is also working on In Focus Martin Sheen scam investigations to help retirees keep their money safe in the information age.

With a career that spans nearly five decades, there are good odds that an actor would have the chance to perform alongside some of the other legends of the profession.

That certainly is true for the incomparable Martin Sheen.

From his beginnings in the 1960s through a film career that took off in the 1970s, Sheen has worked alongside some of the biggest names in film history.

His first major film, 1973’s “Badlands,” cast him with a yet-to-be-known actress named Sissy Spacek, who would go on to win an academy award just eight years later for her role in “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”

In 1979, the host of In Focus Martin Sheen co-starred with several legendary names in Francis Ford Coppola’s sweeping Vietnam War film “Apocalypse Now.”

Sheen starred in the film with Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper, but the film also featured several actors who were not well known at the time but went on to stardom.

Harrison Ford, Laurence Fishburne and Scott Glenn also appeared in the film. Fishburne was a few years away from becoming well known, and in fact lied about his age just to get a part on the film.

Ford had just been introduced to the world in the run up to the film in 1977’s “Star Wars.” And Scott Glenn was a year away from his turn in “Urban Cowboy” and four years away from his role as Alan Shepherd in the film adaptation of Tom Wolfe’s “The Right Stuff.”

In 1980, Martin Sheen shared the screen with a true great of American cinema when he starred with Kirk Douglas in the military-turned-time-travel adventure film “The Final Countdown.”

Sheen has also appeared alongside Ben Kingsley in “Gandhi”, Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio in “Catch Me If You Can” and most recently appeared alongside two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field in “The Amazing Spider-Man.”

The host of In Focus with Martin Sheen has had an astonishing career that has included brushes with greatness on his own path to legendary status in the film industry.

As our world gets smaller, more and more business are consolidating under large multi-national umbrellas. In Focus PBS at 561-907-9280 investigates how global changes are impacting people in their own communities.

While many people do their banking with large national banking institutions, there are still a few small community style banks around the country. For many banking customers, the small town and community banks offer a level of service that is attractive, and the banks do have their advantages. In Focus Martin Sheen explores how small banks can provide a unique experience through the TV program and online at www.infocusptv.com.

One of the things that bothers people about bigger banks are the “hidden fees” that often crop up in the monthly statement. Community banks will often give you warning if you are about to go below a minimum balance and if there are fees, generally they are lower.

Since community banks are by definition part of the community, they make a contribution. Often community banks will work with local charities. The local bank might sponsor a little league team or work with a local food bank. A big bank might be charitable, but a local bank will keep the money right in its own home.

Credit score is only part of the story when you get a loan. A smaller bank may know its customers much better and therefore factor other considerations in to the matrix when making the decision to grant a loan.

Finally, local banks can often offer a much higher level of customer service. A large bank might have you call an 800 number when you have problems, but a local bank is run right in the community in which it operates. Problems can often be resolved with a local call to a local bank employee who knows more about you than a customer service representative on an 800 line.

In Focus with Martin Sheen will continue to explore financial options for the audience through the TV show on public television. Community banks are just one way customers can maintain a high level of care from their financial institutions.

Often, actors become great television hosts. Examples of actors who have successfully transitioned to roles as TV hosts include Drew Carey, Ellen DeGeneres and Jon Stewart. The producers of In Focus with Martin Sheen, a new magazine-style television program starring Martin Sheen that airs on public television stations across the country, are hoping that Sheen, a respected and award-winning actor, can continue this trend of actors becoming successful TV hosts. The Martin Sheen In Focus television program explores interesting stories, developments and trends in various areas of American culture, and around the globe. The In Focus TV show is distributed on many public TV stations, including a number of PBS member stations. However, this does not mean that the Public Broadcasting Service either distributes or produces any of its programming. The show’s production team alone creates, produces and distributes all of the content of the In Focus Martin Sheen show.

The Martin Sheen PBS show reviews fascinating trends, stories and anecdotes across the United States and abroad. Episodes of the show profile laudable groups, companies and organizations throughout the U.S. and overseas.

Host Martin Sheen has worked as an actor on TV shows and movies for more than four decades. He has earned praise and awards for his roles in TV shows like The West Wing and movies such as Apocalypse Now.
